SPSHS, The Beginning

Sri Patibandla Sitaramaiah: The Colossus, SPSHS

Going back in time, in 1908, Sri Patibandla Sitaramaiah and his siblings donated a plot of land to establish a school at LAM village near Guntur town, to provide education to the under privileged children. The government took initiative at Sri Sitaramaiah’s behest to run the institution and aptly named it Sri Patibandla Sitaramaiah Zilla Parishad High School. It is still going great guns with campus strength of 300 plus at LAM itself and is one of the reputed century plus old educational institutes in the district; a matter of pride for the locals.

In 1921, with the co-operation and backing from a few British officers Sri Patibandla Sitaramaiah founded the “LAM FARM”, an agriculture and animal husbandry research institute with three members on its rolls. Six years into its existence, he and his siblings donated a further 56 acres of prime land for expanding the venture. The government lent its share by acquiring additional land and established what is today popularly known as the N G Ranga Agricultural University.

As a tribute to Sri Patibandla Sitaramaiah, the educational visionary, “Sri Patibandla Sitaramaiah High school” was established on 31st Oct 1962 at Guntur, with an aim to inculcate, instil, influence and shape young minds, with a proper value system besides academics, so that as adults they partake and take up cudgels in creating a society with strong moral fabric and ethical standing.
